Check requirements for your passport
Travelling to Italy
Italy combines ancient Rome, Renaissance Florence, the canals of Venice and Milan's fashion and trade fairs with coastlines such as the Amalfi Coast and islands like Sicily and Sardinia. Many visitors fly into one city and leave from another.
Planning tips for Italy
- Open-jaw trips (arriving in one city, leaving from another) are common — make sure your itinerary explains the route.
- Major museums and sites often need timed tickets booked in advance in high season.
- Trains connect most major cities, so you may not need domestic flights.

How Vola helps with your Italy trip
- 01
Check the requirements for your passport
Select your passport above. Vola only shows requirements from records verified against a named official source, with the source and last verification date. If your route is not verified yet, the page says so — it never guesses.
- 02
Prepare and upload your documents
Start an application and upload documents as you collect them. Your progress is saved as a draft, so you can come back and finish later.
- 03
See the price before you pay
The Vola service fee and any government fee we have verified are shown before payment. A government fee we have not verified is never estimated.
- 04
Track your application
Follow each status update in your dashboard and message the Vola team from the same page.
Questions about Italy applications
Does Vola issue Italy visas?
No. Vola is an independent visa assistance company, not a government agency or embassy. The decision on any Italy visa or travel authorisation is always made by the relevant government authority; Vola helps you understand the requirements and prepare a complete application.
Where do the Italy requirements shown on Vola come from?
From records Vola staff verify against a named official source. Each result shows that source and the date it was last verified, and records are re-checked on a schedule. If there is no verified record for your passport yet, you will see "Requirements being verified" and can ask to be notified.
Can I start my Italy application before I have every document?
Yes. Your application is saved as a draft while you work on it, so you can upload documents as you collect them. A passport scan and a photo are needed before you submit.
How much does a Italy application cost with Vola?
It depends on your passport and trip. Before you pay, Vola shows its service fee and, when it has been verified, the government fee. If the government fee is not verified, Vola tells you rather than estimating it.
